Sam Schacht edits and directs Henry Denker's
1959 drama of a young Freud on the precipice of discovering and documenting the power of the unconscious through the case of Elizabeth von R, a patient suffering from hysterical paralysis. After the performance, Mr. Schacht
and Dr. D'Amato engage in dialogue and
invite audience participation. A social follows.
Sam Schacht, MA, is an actor, producer, theater academic, former Dean of the Actors Studio Drama
School at the New School, and an instructor at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting.
Barbara D'Amato, PsyaD, LP, has written extensively on the analysis of literature as it
depicts unconscious conflict.
